“And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many.” (Matt 27:50-53)
Imagine the darkness that fell over the earth following the death of Jesus. The passage above describes a sorrow that was felt by all of creation. Good Friday is only “good” because we live in days beyond the following Sunday, beyond the resurrection. But before we celebrate our Lord’s victory, we must remember the cost. We invite you to join us for a solemn Tenebrae service on April 19 at 7 PM as we mourn the death of Jesus.
Service will be held in the auditorium. Funeral attire is traditional. Childcare will not be provided, but children of all ages are invited and welcome to join.
