Worship Ministry
Worshiping God is a big deal.
The Worship Ministry at MBC strives to honor God by incorporating art, beauty, and creativity in our worship services. We desire to create an avenue of focus, worshiping corporately and individually in spirit and truth, speaking the truth in love and reflecting His glory.
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. – John 4:23
I am always open for new interest and involvement in the Worship Ministry.
If you would like to learn more about serving with us please feel free to contact me anytime. We have a number of different teams, and I’m happy to see what (and who) God has in store for us.

The MBC Worship Team released a CD of some of the songs we sing together on Sunday mornings. You can pick up a CD free of charge in the Foyer at the church at any time.
As previously stated, the CDs are absolutely free. If, however, you feel led to give to or pay for one of our Worship CDs, that money would go toward helping us create our next CD.

A quick note…
I think this type of thing is normally established at the birth of a ministry. You know…establish the guidelines, cast the vision, whatever, and then build the ministry. However, in this particular case, it wasn’t. These Ministry Principles are a collection of what I’ve observed the Worship Ministry evolve into over the last six or seven years. Not completely, of course. There are areas we continue to work on and refine. But by and large, these principles where not established by me, but developed over the course of time, by having a great group of friends who care as much about following after Christ as they do playing a great song.

Ministry Principles
We all are worship leaders.
We all share the responsibility to do that well. We work hard, we play hard, and we strive to lead our church family to passionately focus on God and worship Him together, in spirit and truth.
We are a team.
We find no greater value in the older or younger, the richer or poorer, the more or less talented, the soloist or the choir, or even the ugly or the less ugly. We serve as a team. We operate as a team. There is no “me” in team… unless you change the spelling order and leave out a couple of letters.
Humility is key.
This is not about us, rather we are serving God. And as is often the case, we do so by serving others. There is no room for rock-stars in this ministry. Our hearts and minds, instruments and voices, ought to all point to God. Our unofficial motto stands: It’s not about me. It’s not about me. It’s still not about me.
Pursue excellence.
In the MBC Worship Ministry there is no expectation of perfection. The burden of perfection can quickly and easily lead to bondage. Excellence, however, givens us some space –some freedom– allows for pursuit of Godliness. We strive for excellence in art, beauty, and creativity before and for our great God.
Fear God alone.
Don’t fear critiques, suggestions, or evaluations. Be willing to make and receive these (critiques, suggestions, and/or evaluations) for artistic and performance quality. We all need these things for improvement and development. We need these to press toward excellence.
Speak the truth in love.
In our pursuit to become more like Christ, we are explicitly commanded to speak the truth in love. The flip side of the coin often seems to be the more difficult, especially in the creative arts world: Hear the truth in love. And do it without holding a grudge and certainly without developing or harboring bitterness. Always remember, we are pressing toward excellence as a team!
Grow up in Christ.
Being a part of the creative arts world is not a one-way pass to maturity, nor does it exempt us from moving toward maturity and growth in our relationship with Christ. Abide with Christ. Walk in the Spirit, humbly. Pursue discipleship and mentoring. Pursue knowledge of the Word and doctrine. Pursue accountability. And pursue God’s calling on your life.
Get Involved
The Worship Ministry is always open for new interest and involvement.
If you would like to learn more about serving with us please feel free to contact Chris by calling the church office, (432) 684-9722.
There are a number of different teams with places to serve, and we are always excited to see new people come along with us as we serve the Body of Christ together.
The expectations and skill level needed for involvement are different in each area. So, please don’t let something like that intimidate you or scare you away. No one here is a professional, so we don’t expect you to be either.
